Braiding, the union of craft and trend

Braiding, the union of craft and trend

It is enough to look at those of our craftsmen and craftswomen to know that they keep a lifetime of tradition in them. A heritage that they have received, in many occasions, from their parents and grandparents. And that, thanks to their work, reaches us in each of Micuir's designs.

One of these legacies is leather braiding, a technique with more than a century of history that is still alive today thanks to the Spanish shoemaking tradition.

But before we continue talking about tradition and craftsmanship, we want to leave you with a reflection: when you see a mother braiding her daughter's hair, your subconscious transmits an image of love and tenderness. That's because braiding hair takes time, patience and a lot of love. Something a mother is willing to do for her daughter.

The same goes for our artisans. Every time they sit down to work, time stops. Everything else doesn't matter. It's time to work with their hands and transfer all the love and passion inherited from their families to each of our designs.

Madeira, smells of sea and fresh breeze

We start with one of your favorite designs: Madeira. With a braided toe in aqua green that takes us to the infinite color of the sea and a toasted suede heel that reminds us of the soft touch of the sand.

Thanks to the braiding technique, this design takes on a great flexibility and softness without losing an ounce of strength. A contrast that works perfectly and turns them into a second skin for our bare feet with the arrival of heat.

Kora, gold and caramel braids

It is the turn of sandals. Perhaps one of the most delicate footwear that exist. With only a few straps, it is necessary to provide the whole design with great resistance and flexibility. This is where the expert hands of our craftsmen and the braiding technique come into play.

Our Kora sandal is the result of hours and hours of work. The result is a design that is delicate to the eye but capable of resisting days on your feet and years in your closet.

Frida and braided handbags, beyond summer

While it is true that the braiding technique takes us back to summer, to our grandmothers' hand-woven rocking chairs, wicker baskets and corded chairs, it also works perfectly in less summery designs.

Proof of this are our braided bags and our Frida boots. Icons of our brand and created with braided cowhide leather thanks to the union of tradition and innovation of our artisan workshops.

In short, the braiding is the mark left by our master craftsmen in each of the Micuir designs. An imprint that has been printed forever on the leather of our shoes and bags and that, from now on, will accompany you in your day to day.
